Devotion

We've been talking about growing in our relationship with God, but today we need to do a quick check on the dynamics of that relationship. He is your best friend & Saviour... but He is also Lord, and we are His servants! This is something that is sooo important as a Christian! We need to understand that being in a relationship with Him is not just about getting goose bumps in a service or listening to praise and worship and getting hyped about it. Although those things aren’t bad, it's deeper than just that. He is Lord. For me, when I made the decision to allow God to rule in my life, there were things and different circumstances that I had to adjust and surrender in my heart to allow God to be in control. I wasn't able to hold onto things like some relationships, bad habits and different thinking patterns. I knew God was leading me to surrender them to Him. But the truth was, and still is, that when you allow Him to be the Lord of your life and surrender everything to Him, you end up gaining way more! You start understanding more about the future He's called you to and ultimately allow God to take the wheel...which only results in the best life you could live! Today as you read these scriptures, believe in your heart that as you give and surrender things over to God that His peace and love will fill you and empower you to be the best version of yourself.

Scripture

James 4:7 (NLT)
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:10 (NLT)
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT)
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
