Good News

This post reminds us that the gospel of Jesus Christ is still good news for everyone—every day. Whether you're broken, bound, or simply tired, Jesus offers healing, forgiveness, and new life. We explore how God’s love meets us in our mess, justifies us by grace, and invites us into a relationship where we can confidently say, “Jesus is Lord.”

Sermon Notes

I’m excited today—and I hope you are too—because I just want to preach the gospel. I just want to declare the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s the reason we gather, the reason we praise, and the reason we can have hope, no matter what we walked in with. If Jesus has changed your life, then you know what I’m talking about. The gospel is powerful, and it’s not just good news for the day you got saved. It’s good news for every single day.

The Gospel is Good News for Everyone

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor…” (Luke 4:18)

Jesus didn’t come to bring religion. He came to bring good news. And it’s still good news today—for the poor, the broken, the bound, the blind, and the oppressed.

If you came in feeling empty, grieving, or just weighed down, the gospel is for you. If you feel stuck in cycles of sin or shame, today can be your day of freedom. Jesus still heals, restores, and saves.

We All Need Saving

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace…”(Romans 3:23–24)

No matter who you are or how “good” you’ve been, we’ve all missed the mark. Sin isn’t just rebellion—it’s anything that falls short of God’s standard. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to justify yourself anymore. God’s grace covers it all. Through Jesus, we are freely justified.

The Cost and the Gift

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Romans 6:23)

Sin is serious. It leads to death—not just physical death but spiritual separation from God. But Jesus said, “Take me instead.” He took our place. The cross wasn’t the end. It was the beginning of life—eternal life—that starts the moment you believe.

And this life isn’t something you wait for after death. It starts now—the moment Jesus becomes your Lord.

God's Love Is Personal

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8)

You are loved. God sees you. God knows you. And even when you were at your worst, He sent His Son for you. He doesn’t love a future, fixed-up version of you. He loves you now.

You might never have heard it from your earthly father, but hear it now from your heavenly one: “You are my son. You are my daughter. I love you. I’m proud of you.”

How to Respond

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”(Romans 10:9)

It’s that simple. You don’t need to work for it, clean yourself up first, or try harder. You just need to believe and respond.

Maybe you’ve walked with God for years, or maybe today is your first time hearing this. Either way, the gospel is still for you. Maybe there are parts of your life that need to come under His Lordship again. Today is the day.

Let’s respond with our whole hearts—because Jesus is Lord.

Today, we stand on the truth that the gospel is still good news. Good news for the poor, the bound, the grieving, the sinner, and the saint. Let’s position ourselves under Jesus’ Lordship once more and step into joy. You’re on the winning team. You can’t lose today. Jesus is Lord—and that changes everything.

Prayer Lord Jesus,

Thank you for the good news of the gospel. Thank you for loving us, even while we were far from you. We surrender our lives again today and declare that you are Lord. Fill us with your joy and peace as we follow you.

Amen.
