Devotion

God is good! All. The. Time. Everything about God is good, and everything He does is GOOD. Stop reading here, close your eyes and focus on who God is to you. Do you know God to be good? Have you ever experienced the goodness of God? Often in life things go wrong. Life gets wild, bad things happen, and yes, that can hurt. Often we can think, ‘How can I go through so much pain in my life and believe God is still good?’ Or, ‘Where was God’s goodness when everything was going bad?’ If you've had those questions or ever felt that way, then today is a good day. Today as we look at what the Bible says, we're going to make a decision to believe again! When we believe what we read, we begin to see that even through the bad things that can happen in our life, God remains, and always will remain, good! He can turn it all around. He is working good things, even when we can't see it. We, as humans, sin, stumble and fall, but God never does. He doesn't have bad moods, get tired of being good or forget to do good. He just is. Everything good flows from Him. One easy way to understand the goodness of God is to think about what He has done in your life, what you were like before He saved you from sin and darkness. There was never a time when God was not good, and there are countless stories in the Bible about the goodness of God. As you reflect on Him and these scriptures today, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s goodness in your life.

Scripture

Psalms 23:5-6 (NLT)
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.
Titus 3:3-9 (NLT)
Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.
Psalms 119:68 (NLT)
You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.
Nahum 1:7 (NLT)
The LORD is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.
