DAY 5 – Fragile Jars Can Get Broken

Devotion

We have almost come full circle today. A few days ago, I began this devotion by explaining the fragility of our lives but also the great potential that our lives have to impact others. Life can sometimes be downright challenging! I often remind our church that although we might go through challenging situations God wants to turn our ‘mess’ into ‘messages’! It is after all, by His blood and our testimonies that we defeat the enemy! (Revelation 12:11)

So, when life throws some curveballs at us, how do we continue to be effective for Him? I’m glad you asked! This is where the power of our great God is most potent. Let me share an analogy with you:

I was in a greenroom recently and a fellow pastor shared with us about the amazing Japanese pottery technique called ‘Kintsugi’. This is a method for repairing broken ceramics with a special lacquer mixed with gold, silver or platinum. The master craftsman does not seek to not to cover the ‘scars’ but to incorporate them into the new piece, thus making the ceramic even more beautiful than the original.

Wow! What a great picture of what God wants to do in our lives. He isn’t ashamed of our brokenness but restores us in such a beautiful way that He receives even more glory for the end result!

So, let’s boldly run to Him, the Master Restorer of our brokenness!

Prayer

Dear Father, I love that You do not give up on me but instead always tenderly restore my brokenness. I love You for that.

Amen.
