Devotion
Throughout history, there have been moments where individuals, cities and nations have bowed down to people, powers, or idols. There is something about the human heart that longs to worship and devote itself to something, whether that be a cause, an ideal, or a person. “All Hail” is a song proclaiming the supremacy of Christ and the power of his name that rings throughout eternity. No one is his equal, no one even comes close in comparison. He is undefeated and his Kingdom knows no end.
Picture Jesus sitting on his heavenly throne, looking down at the nations with its people as small as grasshoppers. The Bible says that “He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing”. As we survey the social, economic and political climate of the world we live in, it can be hard to imagine that Jesus is supreme. Yet the kings and dictators in power that perpetrate great pain and suffering are like grasshoppers in his sight. Pray today for a revelation of Jesus’ power and a reassurance that no matter what the facts might be, that he is the truth and the sovereign One who reigns above all.
