Devotion

When you are part of a sports team, there is a ‘playbook’ containing strategies and processes to help the team win. These days, there are a lot of analytics and statistics that help a team to improve. Players have to know these ‘plays’ and they need to be ready to execute these ‘plays’ whenever the coach directs them.

As Christians, we have a playbook too. It’s called the Word of God. Within its pages are all the things we need to know in order to live a successful life. It also details the character of our God, describing His ways and His kingdom. We need to know this playbook well.

There are all sorts of challenges that come our way during our lifetime, yet the Word of God always has the answer. There are principles outlined in the Bible that we can live by that will help us to be a better wife or husband, a better friend, a better employee or employer, and a better person. It also details how to live our lives empowered by the Holy Spirit, with the gifts of the Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit spilling out of us and demonstrating the Kingdom of God to others. This is why abiding in God’s Word and having it remain in us will help lead us to healing, provision, peace and success.

In this ever-changing world with all of its man-made reasoning and philosophy, there is a constant guide that we can always rely upon. It will help us win. Our challenge is to spend more time reading and studying the Word of God than we do reading the tabloids, social media or mainstream media. The Word of God will always lead you into truth and the truth will set you free.

Prayer

Thank you Father for Your Word. It is powerful, alive and sharper than any two- edged sword. I ask You to give me a passion for Your Word. I want to read and study it more than I ever have before. Help me to see it as the most important book and source of knowledge because it is Your Word. Let it guide me, correct me, enlarge me and reveal more and more about You and Your character.

I pray this in Jesus' Name,
Amen
