Scripture

John 13:34-35 (AMP)
I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”

Devotion

The greatest attribute of being on the winning team is love. Love is the greatest. It wins every time. It was love that sent Jesus to the cross. It was love that prompted God to set about a plan of redemption back in the beginning. It was love that brought you into God’s Kingdom.

If we look around at the world we live in, many people are searching for love. They go about looking for their ‘perfect match’ and try to fill the longing in their heart to be loved and appreciated with all sorts of pursuits that never lead to that place of true satisfaction. Think about the woman that Jesus met at the well. She had had five husbands and the man she was living with wasn’t her husband. Whether it was a case of this woman being abandoned or rejected by men, or whether she went from relationship to relationship by her own choice, it was apparent that this woman remained unfulfilled. When she came to draw water, Jesus invited her to partake of some ‘living’ water that would satisfy her to the point where she would never thirst again.

When you encounter the love of Jesus, you are transformed by that love. It’s a love that touches the deepest parts of us. We are chosen, accepted and adopted. We become children of God and our Father is a good Father that loves us unconditionally. Now that’s a win!

Prayer

Dear Father,

I am so grateful that You love me and that Your love brings life to me. I receive Your unconditional love and I ask that Your love would flow through me to others so they can experience that same love.

In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen
