Scripture

Psalms 46:1 (NLT)
God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.

Devotion

I want to share a vision I had recently as I was praying for you today. It was when I was a kid in Fiji, and we were going through a tropical cyclone. I was reminded of this moment when my dad stood up in the middle of our corrugated iron house that had glass windows and put up protection all around the house. He nailed planks of wood across the glass windows to keep us safe inside. We felt safe in the house as the tropical cyclone came because I saw that my dad was strong, had set up protection and the atmosphere at home felt secure.

That picture just reminds me that God is with us. He is our refuge at all times. He is always with you in whatever storm you are going through today.

I want to encourage you to meditate on this very simple verse today. Whatever circumstances or trouble you are facing today, remember that God is our refuge. Refuge is a place of safety, a shelter. A place where you would run to when you are trouble. Would you run to Him today?

The verse continues to say that He also provides us with strength! You can find strength in God when God is in the room, although the atmosphere is constantly changing around us. Going back to the vision I shared earlier of my dad, all I had to do was to look at my dad and his strength and I felt safe as a kid. I want to further encourage you today that God is your strength!

God is also our ever-present help. Be assured that help is on its way! I do not know what it looks like in your situation but what I do know is that God has got help coming your way. God is also our protection!

Prayer

Father I pray today that You will speak peace over the storm and that I will feel strength in my heart right now. I know that I am protected over the atmospheres around me and You have the answer and solution to everything. I come into agreement that help is on its way and You are protecting me today. In Jesus name, Amen.
