Scripture

Hebrews 10:23-25 (NLT)
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Devotion

You know one of the first things that we read in the Bible, God says about humanity that it's not good that men should be alone. Yet, that's what many people are right now. Many people are home alone or at least with the same people, and some of you are home alone, literally no one else there. This is such a unique time in humanity, in history, and the world right now. God said it's not good that men should be alone. Now I want to stir every single one of us, absolutely I believe that it's not good that men should be alone, so what do we do in a time like this? Well firstly one of the reasons we wanted to bring you devotions every day, is that exactly. We want to connect with you and encourage you in the word of God, specifically this verse for today:

As we may not be able to meet physically in a Church location or some of you are physically isolated; one of the great things we are doing at the moment is church online and we're having an incredible time doing that. So many Urban Life groups are doing video chats, video hangouts, making phone calls to stay connected during this time. We want to encourage you that you can do that too. One of the most powerful things that we can do in a moment like this is to make sure that we are connected with God and inviting His presence and His power into our homes. Many people are used to coming to a Church building to encounter the presence of God and I can't wait until we all get to do that again. What's incredible, so many people that aren't used to hosting His presence in His power in their homes, so what an incredible opportunity for God to fill your home with His presence, power and glory. We believe the testimonies of what God does during this season are going to be phenomenal.

One of the great things that we talk to our Church about; do the opposite of what you feel. If you feel hurt and you want to isolate; instead reach out and be friendly and loving. If you feel like you don't have enough; reach out and be generous. We want to stir you at a time like this. We may not be able to meet together physically, but guess what; Church online is not cancelled, picking up your phone and connecting with someone is not cancelled, praying for the sick is not cancelled. There are so many things we can do to reach out, press in, and go for more during this season. We want to encourage you, now is not a time to feel isolated. Now is the time to reach out and make a difference in our world. Be encouraged, our God is a God who never breaks His promises.

Prayer

God, we thank You. We thank You for Your presence and Your power filling our homes. Lord, we thank You for Your word, that You identify right from the very start; it is not good for us to be alone. Lord, we thank You that in 2020 we don't have to be isolated. There are so many ways that we can meet together, and it may not be the way we want to meet together, but God we thank You, over video, over devotions, over YouTube, over the phone, over messaging and all these different mediums of communication. God, we thank You that not one person would feel isolated. Lord, help us to be the difference in our world that You could have us be. In Jesus name, Amen.
