Realms, Atmospheres, and Our Divine Authority

This sermon unpacks the spiritual reality of realms and atmospheres and the divine authority believers carry to influence and transform them. Through understanding our position in Christ, exercising faith-filled confession, and taking spiritual responsibility, we can change environments, shift darkness, and bring heaven’s atmosphere into our everyday lives.

Sermon Notes

Have you ever walked into a room and felt the tension? Or entered a place and felt an unexplainable peace? These are not just emotions—they’re atmospheres. As believers, we don’t just live in the physical realm. We exist in spiritual realms too, and each one carries an atmosphere that can shape our thoughts, emotions, and even outcomes. The powerful truth is this: God has given us divine authority to influence and transform the atmosphere around us.

Understanding Spiritual Realms

We are not fighting against people, but against spiritual powers and unseen forces (Ephesians 6:12). These realms are real, and they impact our lives daily. There’s the physical realm we see, the soul realm of our thoughts and emotions, and the spiritual realm where both God’s power and the enemy operate. But we are not helpless. We’ve been placed by God in a position of spiritual authority—above all these realms (Ephesians 2:6).

The Divine Authority We've Been Given

Jesus said in Matthew 28:18, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Then He passed that authority to us: “Go…” He empowered us to walk in the same authority He carried. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places, and we carry that authority everywhere we go. We are not victims of atmospheres—we are atmosphere changers.

Exercising Your Spiritual Authority

To exercise our authority, we must live intentionally. We choose to stand in faith, not fear. We pray, praise, and declare God's Word over our circumstances. Like Joseph who shifted the atmosphere in Potiphar’s house and prison, or like Jesus calming storms—when we show up, heaven shows up with us. When we align our actions with God’s Word, we bring peace, healing, and breakthrough into every situation.

Confession and Declaration

The words we speak carry power. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” When we declare God’s truth, we’re not just making noise—we’re releasing spiritual authority. Hebrews 3:1 calls Jesus the High Priest of our confession. That means our words, when aligned with Scripture, carry weight in heaven. Idle words tear down, but faith-filled declarations build up.

Confess the truth: “I am a child of God. I am seated in heavenly places. I have authority over fear, sickness, and despair.” Speak it often. Speak it boldly..

The Responsibility of Authority

With great authority comes great responsibility. God’s call is not just to receive but to release—to speak truth, to carry His presence, and to love in action. We are called to create atmospheres of hope, peace, and freedom. Like heralds of the King, we proclaim His message everywhere we go. Your school, workplace, home, and even your street can be transformed by the Spirit of God working through you.

We are called to live in divine authority, under divine authority, with divine authority, and release divine authority. The realms around us are real, but so is the power that lives in us. Whether you’re facing darkness, fear, or discouragement—remember, Jesus has already declared, “It is finished.” You don’t have to bow to the atmosphere—you can change it.

Prayer Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving me divine authority through Jesus Christ. Help me to recognise the spiritual realms around me and boldly carry Your presence wherever I go. Strengthen my words, actions, and heart so I can shift atmospheres with Your love, peace, and power.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
